Picton

I swear I am always buying things. I was in Picton today because there was a craft/jewelry festival that sounded interesting. I have also been wanting to go to this jewelry designer that lives in Pitcon who makes earrings and necklaces with swarovski crystals. I need some swarovski earrings to match my necklace that I have had for about 2 years and this was the perfect occassion to drop by and see if they could make me some! I will get my new earrings in 2 weeks!

The size of the place was incredible and the jewelry stalls were amazing! I ran into the same woman that made the necklace I blogged about not long ago with the gold plated red oak leaf, and I had to buy a pine cone off of her.
Le bf is coming to Kingston this weekend! So happy!
Sorry about the lack of outfit posts. I've been dressing slouchy/comfy lately...more coming soon!

Also, seatbelt belts to be added to my Etsy store!

New Addition to the Headband Family

A new addition lifted on my Etsy shop! This is a green rose and bead headband with stretchy band so it fits any head size. The pictures do not do it justice, it is a beautifully weaved band!

Not Prototypes, Actual Products

It has been a busy few days as usual, but I have exciting news! I now have Etsy headbands that should be available today if all goes well.

They are black and white sequined flower headbands. I just love the look of them! The only tricky part is the costs of shipping, I didn't realize how much costs had changed since I was selling belts online in high school. Hope you all had a great weekend!
Check them out on my Etsy shop here: www.gascoin.etsy.com

I bought this shirt about 2 years ago, and love what it stands for. The wording is saying that it shouldn't matter how much money you make, you should be able to buy fashionable clothing with any budget. Clothing that is considered in style should not be so expensive that it can only be purchased by the well off.

Echo

The past few days have been a blur. I have been out and about with no time to blog since le tooth filling. Yesterday I was in Pembroke visiting family and on the way home stopped at Bon Echo. If you have never been to Bon Echo, it is a worth while place to see if you are not planning on camping there. The place was beautiful! I looked like a city girl who got lost in the woods by the way I was dressed compared to the other campers, but I had to see the huge rock/cliffs that were the parks attraction.

Picture 116

I have also been at work on head bands. I love them and have seen a surge in their popularity over the past few months, so I am busy making prototypes that I can sell on Etsy. This is one hat I made out of 3 different types of rope and sequins, but found that the rope easily unravels unless you stitch it very well.

Picture 122

I also did a very 80's inspired sequined head band but couldn't get a good picture of it.

Dentist Made the I Hate You List

DSCF2023

Sorry for the lack of posts. I went to te dentist this morning and am not up to pictures and posting today. Have you ever had a tooth drilled? This was my first time and I think the numbing is worse than the drilling really...it has been 3 hours and I still can't eat. I don't hate the dentist though lol. I'll post soon!

Help Me Obi-Wan Kenobi, You're My Only Hope..

Picture 105

All I need in this photo is a lightsaber and I think I would fit in nicely on the Star Wars set. This is especially true for the second photo!

Picture 111

At the moment I am people watching at Starbucks. In Kingston there is an Indigo book store that has a Starbucks on the second floor, so you can look out the windows down on the passers by without them seeing you. Creepy? Maybe. Fun/interesting? You bet!

I'm in Love

I have been on a rampage lately trying to find jeans. It is really dificult for me to find ones that fit me the way I want them to, so when I find a pair, I usually buy more than one of that style. The only problem with that is that it looks like I am wearing the same pair of jeans over and over again. However, yesterday was my lucky day! I ventured into Calvin Klein, a place I rarely go, and found some great jean shorts! So I've found half of a pair of jeans that fit me well, now I need to find full length ones that fit the same! Sorry for the crappy pic, my neighbour was outside and I didn't like that he was in staring distance to my photoshoot.

Now I just need to find some nice ankle boots! Oh, if you ever find your self in downtown Kingston on Princess St., I recommend you check out Era, it is a quality vintage/thrift store. Blazers are $5-7, skirts $5-10, etc. Very reasonable! This is what it looks like:

It is probably the nicest vintage/thirft store in reference to cleanliness and quality clothing I have found.

Is it crazy that I used to be deathly afraid of camera's? I hated getting my picture taken so would cover my face as often as I could, and now I take them all the time. This blog helped me get over that phoebia actually.

I just discovered a tri-pod at my house to this was my first attempt at using it. Not much to report today, it was pretty normal.

Home Again Home Again Giggidy Gig

After an exhausting weekend in Toronto I'm back in Kingston. I had a really calming ride home down the 401. In my constant quest for something to do, I think I have decided that I will start listing things on my Etsy.com account. About 8 years ago now I used EBAY to sell seatbelt belt that I made and they sold like hot cakes. I quit because I moved away to University, but I think I will sell the rest of my lot. I have around 40 buckles left over. Because old cars that had the chrome buckles are being boxed up and crushed in car junk yards, these chrome buckles are harder and harder to come by. I don't know what the market is like for them 8 years later, but they still seem to be around. Here is a sample of the ones I have made and are ready to list:

Picture 089

They are also available in Turquoise, Pumpkin Orange, Red and Black. I used to start the bidding at $10, and that had been bid up to $23 on occasion. I'm not sure what to list them at now though because of scarcity and market size. ideas?
On a different note, Toronto garbage is ridiculous! I can't believe that striking individuals are holding every car up from 5-15 minutes before letting them dump their trash! Those workers get more vacation/sick days than most already so shouldn't be complaining about a little cut I don't think. If you have been to Toronto lately, this will be a familiar site:

We have some busy days ahead! Saturday is moving day for my brother! He bought himself a condo in Toronto and we get to move him from his old crappy apartment into a new lux one. I will definitely be over to play tennis, use the squash courts and swim. I haven't seen it yet, so I'm pretty excited. I can't wait to get a permanent job and find a first home of my own. I am sick of renting and not being able to decorate the way I want. Right now that is all I want.

Seniors Section Shopping

Picture 053

Picture 055

Ok, you are going to think I am completely nuts for suggesting this shopping tip unless everyone reading this are closet seniors section shoppers. Anyway I was out shopping yesterday because I am in desperate need of jeans, and had to make a stop at The Bay because I needed to see if they sold a certain brand of clothing that my grandmother wears. (she is in need of pants as well). After looking through the section I could not believe all of the cute cardigans, skirts and blouses there were. I'm not talking about all of the elastic waist banded pants, but other items. Of course it is a bit of trial and error. Seniors are not the same shape as younger people are, so certain pieces of clothing might not fit properly, but it is the exact same thing as vintage and thrift shopping. You often try on a lot of things before finding that one perfect piece. I found that going down one size from your regular size was the best fitting strategy. The skirt posted above came from the senior's petites section and it fits like it was tailored for me. Plus the sale racks are full full full of clothes. And you will know that other people our age won't be wearing the same thing!

Crazy Shopping Tip

You are going to think I am crazy but I'm going to do a post tomorrow about a treasure trove of clothing gems I found today...and I wasn't even thrifting! Check back tomorrow afternoon for the post.

Fun At Fan Fair

Picture 046

Picture 047

Picture 049

This weekend Kingston hosted an annual event called Fan Fair where vendors set up tents at Kingston Harbour and sell their hand-made goods. But on top of this there was also an antique sale going on at city hall, one block away. So this ended up being an all day outing for me. I started at the antiques where there was a ton of old, vintage and costume jewelry! I didn't end up buying anything there, but did at the hand-made craft fair! I came across 2 stalls where I had to buy something. One was bugs, butterflies and beetles covered in resin and sold as necklaces and earrings. I bought a pair of monarch earrings. Then I came across a stall where this couple silver and gold coated leaves, pine cones and even seahorses.

I Love You Victoria

armani ad 1

armani ad 2

I don't know what it is, but I love Victoria Beckham. Everything she does whether it be her book, her Marc Jacobs campaign or this Armani campaign, I adore them all. I thought that the first campaign that she and David did for Armani was intensely elegant and ubber sexy, and I think this new campaign shares the same power of imagery. However, the new campaign bodes more strength and power through the angles of their bodies than the previous which hosted more of a calm laidback effortless elegance. I love the almost animalistic body positions in the second picture, like they have been startled and are looking at the perpetrator. Love the new campaign!

A Canada Day Away

Some pictures I took this weekend at my parents place and at the cottage:

For Canada Day I usually get together with my friends and go downtown in whatever city I am in to watch the fireworks. This year was a little different. I didn't see any fireworks at all, not one. My parents and I made an exits to the cottage and spent the night there. I thought maybe someone would set off some fireworks on the lake, but we didn't see any.
